Fulshear Schools by Neighborhood: Lamar CISD vs. Katy ISD Guide

One of the first questions almost every family asks when house-hunting in Fulshear is simple to ask and surprisingly hard to answer with a Google search: which school district is this house zoned to? Fulshear sits right at the meeting point of Lamar CISD (LCISD) and Katy ISD, and several of the area’s best-known master-planned communities are split between the two — sometimes street by street. A few outlying communities aren’t in either district at all.

We put this guide together as a companion to our Fulshear schools overview, which covers what makes the local campuses stand out. This page goes a level deeper: neighborhood by neighborhood, here’s what we could verify about school zoning as of publication.

A quick but important note: school zoning changes. Lamar CISD approved a significant elementary-boundary rezoning in March 2026 (effective for the 2027–28 school year) affecting several Fulshear-area elementary schools. District-level assignments below are stable and well-documented; specific elementary campus assignments are more likely to shift over time. Always confirm the exact zoning for a specific address with Lamar CISD or Katy ISD directly, or ask us — we check this for every listing we show.

The General Pattern (With Real Exceptions)

As a broad rule of thumb, communities in Fulshear proper tend to fall in Lamar CISD, while communities closer to the city of Katy tend to fall in Katy ISD. But several of the largest communities straddle that line and are split by exact street or section — not by a simple compass direction — so treat this as a starting point, not a guarantee for any specific address.

Buying in a Split Community? Here’s What To Do

If you’re looking in Cross Creek Ranch, Firethorne, or Elyson — the three communities we found with a confirmed street-level split — the safest move is to check the exact address against the district’s official boundary tool before writing an offer, not just the neighborhood name. We do this for every showing, but you’re welcome to check yourself too:
