One of the first questions almost every family asks when house-hunting in Fulshear is simple to ask and surprisingly hard to answer with a Google search: which school district is this house zoned to? Fulshear sits right at the meeting point of Lamar CISD (LCISD) and Katy ISD, and several of the area’s best-known master-planned communities are split between the two — sometimes street by street. A few outlying communities aren’t in either district at all.

Lamar CISD approved a significant elementary-boundary rezoning in March 2026 (effective for the 2027–28 school year) affecting several Fulshear-area elementary schools. The General Pattern (With Real Exceptions)
As a broad rule of thumb, communities in Fulshear proper tend to fall in Lamar CISD, while communities closer to the city of Katy tend to fall in Katy ISD. But several of the largest communities straddle that line and are split by exact street or section — not by a simple compass direction — so treat this as a starting point, not a guarantee for any specific address.
