Schools in Fulshear, TX: A Buyer’s Guide to Lamar CISD and Katy ISD

Top-Rated Schools in Fulshear, Texas
06/29/2025

The schools in Fulshear are split between two public school districts, Lamar Consolidated ISD and Katy ISD, and the line between them does not follow the city limits. Two houses a mile apart can carry the same Fulshear mailing address and be zoned to different districts. For buyers who care about schools, that split is the single most important thing to understand before you write an offer.

This guide covers which districts serve Fulshear addresses, the campuses buyers ask about most, how to check a campus’s state report card yourself, and how to confirm zoning for a specific house. I will not rank schools here. Ratings change every year, and the best school for one student is not the best for another. What I can do is show you where the official answers live, so you can compare the schools in Fulshear on your own terms. For a neighborhood-by-neighborhood map of the district line, see our Fulshear schools by neighborhood zoning guide.

Which Districts Serve Schools in Fulshear

Most of Fulshear, including the city’s historic center and much of the newer development around it, sits in Lamar CISD. Some communities on the north and east side of the area fall in Katy ISD. A few master-planned communities are split, with one section in each district. Your city, your MUD and your HOA do not decide your school district. Your exact address does.

Lamar Consolidated Independent School District (LCISD)

Lamar CISD serves a large share of Fort Bend County, including Fulshear, Richmond and Rosenberg. It is growing quickly, which means new campuses open and attendance zones get redrawn as neighborhoods fill in. On its new student enrollment page, the district points families to its School Finder to look up the zoned campus for an address. Use that tool, not a listing remark, as your source.

Katy Independent School District (Katy ISD)

Katy ISD covers Katy, much of west Houston and parts of the Fulshear area. Its Find My School page links to a district map where you enter an address and see the zoned campuses. Katy ISD also reviews attendance boundaries as it grows, so a zone that was true when a neighbor bought may not be true for you.

Both districts publish their own zoning tools, and both change boundaries over time. That is the reason to check schools in Fulshear address by address rather than by subdivision name.

Campuses Buyers Ask About Most

Elementary Schools

Lamar CISD elementary campuses buyers often mention in the Fulshear area include Huggins Elementary, Morgan Elementary and James E. Randolph Elementary. Which one a house feeds depends on the address, and some neighborhoods have been rezoned as new elementary schools opened. Treat any campus named in a listing as a starting point to verify, not a promise.

Junior High Schools

Lamar CISD uses a junior high model for grades 7 and 8. Leaman Junior High is the campus most Fulshear-area buyers ask about. Katy ISD addresses feed Katy ISD junior highs, and those assignments vary block to block on the north side of the area.

High Schools

Fulshear High School is the Lamar CISD campus that carries the city’s name, and we wrote more about it in our Fulshear High School overview. Katy ISD addresses in the area feed Katy ISD high schools, and the specific campus depends on where the house sits. If a particular high school matters to you, look it up for each address on your short list before you tour, not after you fall in love with a kitchen.

The School District for Fulshear TX

Zoning varies by street, and both districts adjust boundaries as they grow. Confirm every campus with the district’s own lookup tool for the exact address.

Private and Charter Options

Private, faith-based and public charter schools operate in and around Fulshear, Katy and Richmond. They do not follow attendance zones, so the house you buy does not decide admission. Charter schools in Texas are public and tuition-free, but most have applications, waitlists or lotteries. Private schools set their own admission and tuition. If you are counting on one, check enrollment openings and the drive at school drop-off time before you commit to an address on the other side of the county.

How to Check Schools in Fulshear Yourself

The Texas Education Agency publishes a school report card for every campus in the state. TEA’s school report cards page says each one combines accountability ratings, data from the Texas Academic Performance Reports and financial information, and that it is meant to inform parents and guardians about a school’s characteristics and academic performance.

A practical way to use it when you compare schools in Fulshear:

  • Look up the zoned campus for each address on your list using the district tool.
  • Pull that campus’s report card from TEA, not a third-party summary.
  • Compare more than one year. A single year can swing on a new campus, a boundary change or a testing change.
  • Look at the programs that matter to your student, such as special education services, dual credit or career courses, and ask the district directly.
  • Visit if you can. Data tells you a lot, but not everything.

TEA notes that report cards for the 2025-26 school year are expected in December 2026, after final accountability ratings are released.

Schools and Home Prices in Fulshear

School zoning is one of the things buyers in this area pay for, whether they have students at home or are thinking about resale. Some of the communities buyers ask about most, and how school zoning comes up in each:

Cross Creek Ranch

A large master-planned community with trails, lakes, pools and a fitness center. It is large enough that buyers should confirm the district and campuses for each section rather than for the community as a whole.

Weston Lakes

A gated community with custom homes, larger lots and a private country club with golf. Check both the school district and the property tax picture, since the setup differs from the master-planned communities nearby.

Fulbrook on Fulshear Creek

A wooded master-planned community with creeks, trails, a pool and a fitness center, near the historic center of Fulshear. Lot sizes and home ages vary by section, which affects price as much as zoning does.

Before You Write an Offer: Confirm the Zoning

Here is the order I walk buyers through when schools in Fulshear are part of the decision. It takes about ten minutes per address, and it is the cheapest due diligence in the whole purchase.

  • Run the address in the district tool. Lamar CISD’s School Finder or Katy ISD’s Find My School map. Screenshot the result with the date.
  • Ask about pending boundary changes. Growing districts redraw zones. A call to the district’s enrollment office is worth it if a new campus is planned nearby.
  • Know what enrollment will ask for. Lamar CISD’s new student page lists a parent photo ID, proof of address, the student’s ID, and school and immunization records. For proof of address it accepts items such as a utility bill, a Final Closing Disclosure, a warranty deed, a mortgage statement, a lease, or a current-year Fort Bend CAD statement showing a homestead exemption.
  • Time the move. If you are closing mid-year, ask the district how it handles enrollment before your closing date.
  • Do not rely on the listing. School fields in a listing are entered by people, and people make mistakes or work from an old map.

If you are buying in Lamar CISD, our Lamar CISD enrollment checklist for homebuyers goes step by step through the paperwork.

Zoning also shows up when you sell. Buyers compare school assignments across similar homes, and that comparison feeds into price. We explain how in why your school district can affect your home value.

Is a Specific School Zone Worth Paying More For?

Sometimes. If a particular campus or program matters to your household, paying for the address that feeds it can be the right call, and it usually helps resale too. But it is not the right trade for everyone. If you do not need a specific campus, a home a few streets over in a different zone may give you more house, a lower tax rate or a shorter commute for the same money.

The honest advice is to decide what you need from the schools in Fulshear before you start touring, then let that narrow the search. It is much easier than trying to talk yourself out of a house later. If you are still weighing the area as a whole, our guide to moving to Fulshear covers MUD taxes, city limits and the commute.
